🐯 Does This Video Show A Thylacine In 2025?!
And a Colossal Squid was filmed for the first time in 100 years!

Okay, so, we get sent images and videos all the time.
“I’ve found an ivory-billed woodpecker…” “There’s an eastern mountain lion in my backyard…” But by far, the one we get the most?
“I’ve seen a Thylacine.”
And look, a lot of the time these things are easy to dismiss — a mangey fox, some weird breed of dog, or a straight up hoax filmed on what looks like a baked potato. But every now and then, something gets sent our way that actually makes us take a second look.
That happened recently.
This bit of footage came to Forrest, and here’s the context: it was taken around 6pm on November 9, 2024, at a playground in Braybrook near Melbourne. The guy who filmed it was only passing through town for a few days and was there with his son. Here’s what he told us:
“I tried looking online to figure out what it was — the only thing similar I could find was a thylacine, maybe a young one at best. I first noticed it when a bunch of birds in a tree nearby started getting real squeaky, then I saw this thing jump down from one of the branches. It was definitely trying to catch the birds. I asked a zookeeper and he said it was a fox, but I still have my doubts — the tail looked too slim. When I got closer I could see stripes on it, which don’t show up clearly in the video. It ran into some nearby bushes when I stepped toward it. And weirdly enough, when I went to check those bushes out, there was a tent set up in there. No clue who it belonged to. But I swear, it had brown stripes like a thylacine does — I’m actually shocked they didn’t show up better in the footage.”
Now, this clip is certainly better than some of the stuff we’ve seen floating around lately. But still... it’s just so hard to buy into it. It’s definitely not a thylacine… why on earth was it in a tree?! Nothing adds up for that. So what is it? Could be some random dog breed, or maybe just another mangey fox (which seems to be the case in about 90% of these sightings). Whatever it is, we’re still waiting on that one piece of footage that shows a clear full-face shot, or visible stripes, or something more than “kind of thylacine-shaped.” Click the link below to find out what we had to say about this sighting!

Have you ever wanted to wear the exact same things Forrest does on one of his shoots? Or have the torch that Forrest swears by? Or have you ever just wanted to have the same things Pat does? Okay, so — after 100 years of trying, scientists have finally done it. We’ve got the first confirmed footage of a colossal squid… alive, in the wild. This thing has been the stuff of legend since 1925, when someone pulled bits of it out of a sperm whale’s stomach. But now — thanks to a deep-sea expedition by Schmidt Ocean Institute — a juvenile colossal squid has been spotted on camera, cruising through the dark about ALMOST 2,000 FT down near the South Sandwich Islands.
Yeah, it’s only a baby — about 12 inches (30cm) long. But it’s 100% legit. Scientists confirmed the ID from mid-arm hooks that are only found on colossal squid. The footage was picked up by a remotely operated vehicle that was livestreaming while scanning the deep for new species. If you’re expecting a monster, don’t. It’s translucent, kind of glassy, with these weird flickering fins and huge eyes. Classic deep-sea vibe. It doesn’t look like much — but considering these things can grow up to 23 ft (7 m) and weigh half a tonne, it’s wild to finally see one just doing its thing.
And yeah — the fact that it’s taken a century to get a single video makes sense. These animals aren’t stupid. They avoid noise, light, and anything that even remotely smells like a predator. Including us. So what’s next? Hopefully more sightings. More footage. Maybe even a grown adult one day. But for now — we’ve got proof of a living one!

This week we review an potential Thylacine video, discuss the first time a colossal squid has been filmed alive, and if a gorilla or black bear would win in a fight. Enjoy!
