đŠWhat on earth is this MYSTERIOUS animal found in Hawaii?!
And chimps can drum??

Imagine this: just a few days ago, a very lucky person with an iPhone captured some footage that has wildlife experts absolutely scratching their heads! This wasn't just a casual sighting either; it triggered a big search above the university last Friday!
While the animal has not been officially identified, witnesses are reporting it's a large cat that's been seen lurking in the mountain behind the East West Center since at least last Monday. One witness, Donovan Luis, even joked, "I was messing around with my girlfriendâs son, like look a mountain lion. Then I took a picture, and I was like wait, wait a minute. And low and behold, it was a big animal." Talk about an unexpected photo op!
The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources was immediately notified, and state wildlife teams spent hours searching the area on foot and even used a drone to try and spot the animal from above. Despite their efforts, there have been no further sightings. And for those wondering about local zoos, a city spokesman has confirmed that all Honolulu Zoo animals are present and accounted for. So, this isn't an escaped zoo resident!
The big question now is, what the hell is this thing? And perhaps even more importantly, how did it get there? Thereâs a ton of possibilities, and I guess we donât know for sureâŠbut itâs certainly up for debate.
What do you guys think it is?!

Until recently, we knew wild chimpanzees drummed on giant tree roots, sending loud, booming sounds through the rainforest as a form of communication. We even knew they had individual drumming styles. But what we didn't fully grasp was just how complex their drumming actually is. A new study, just published in the journal Current Biology, shows chimpanzees follow distinct, regular, and non random rhythms. We're talking about traits that are fundamental building blocks of human music. This suggests the origin of our own musicality may have existed long before we were human, potentially originating in a last common ancestor with chimps.
Researchers found chimps are often drumming with their feet, using their hands to hold on, almost like they're dancing to the beat. They even jump between roots to get different sounds, sometimes throwing in a hand for a little syncopation. This study is the first to truly demonstrate this rhythmic ability in wild chimpanzees, not just those in captivity. They discovered striking differences between subspecies: Western chimps used more regular intervals, while their Eastern counterparts were more likely to alternate between faster and slower beats. These variations could even reflect differences in human language!
And there's more. Two other recent papers show chimps throwing rocks as communication and combining vocal sounds for complex meaning. Taken with recent work detailing a headbanging sea lion that can keep a beat and key linguistic patterns in whale song, it suggests humansâ rhythm and language abilities might not be as unique as we once thought.
